Everyone stepped out of their comfort zones for this shoot, throwing confetti, eating pizza on screen, and even smiling when you could tell it was the most awkward experience they’ve ever had.
(Seriously—that stuff is hard. It would not have gone this well if they weren’t open to playing along.)
The Stages group is made up of the warmest, most welcoming individuals I’ve ever gotten to work with. They plaid along with every idea we had for their headshots, and even offered their own: “I brought this mic”…”Do you want me to go get my drum?”
They’re managers, YouTubers, actors, engineers, and musicians (Stages is, after all, a recording studio & music school). Some have tattoos that tell cool alien stories, and some share their stories through their sweaters & bandanas.
It didn’t really matter how they wanted to show up; the only solid rule was “wear something blue”.
The objective there was to accent the blue in their brand’s color palette so that it would create a cohesive look throughout the website (and as a group!)
And they killed it.
The goal with any team headshots or branding photos is to get portraits that do 2 things:
- Show everyone’s individual personality & quirks (because no one’s going to have the same personality and people can smell it if it’s forced)
- Connect with your audience and make them feel like they want to know you & work with you
These headshots create a lot of intrigue and give a sense that they are, indeed, the kind of people you’d want to jam with over a slice of zah.
